Delmonico - Emeril's Shining Star

A trip to Las Vegas would not be complete without visiting Emeril's Delmonico Steakhouse.  First, a little history of this place...

Chef Emeril Lagasse's take on the grand American steakhouse. Located in The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino in Las Vegas, Delmonico Steakhouse takes its name from the legendary, century-old New Orleans institution, Delmonico Restaurant and Bar. Delmonico Steakhouse is elegant and luxurious both in cuisine and atmosphere while offering a comfortable, approachable ambiance that is as breathtaking as it is inviting. With one of the top meat selections globally, Delmonico Steakhouse focuses on in-house dry aging Creekstone Farm meat selections. Inspired by Chef Emeril’s New Orleans culinary roots, the emphasis on Creole cooking builds upon French techniques with an infusion of robust flavors that elevate the traditional steakhouse experience using the freshest and finest ingredients. Paired with one of Wine Spectators Grand Award winning extraordinary wine programs and a selection of 700 whiskeys, the level of attention to detail makes each experience restorative in nature and keeps guests coming back time after time regardless of the occasion. Whether families and friends gather to mark milestones, professionals at a business meeting, or strangers are meeting for a first date, at Delmonico Steakhouse, all moments are worth celebrating and all of guests’ expectations are honored

What a meal!  Everyone was satisfied after this adventure, and we didn't leave without - you guessed it - having a few desserts.  Unfortunately, Emeril did not delight us with his version of tiramisu - it wasn’t on the menu - but since it’s Emeril’s place we had to at least go for the pecan pie. And one our friends, who has never indulged in the deliciousness of pecan pie, went for the chocolate mousse cake.

The results were interesting to say the least. After some time to process the flavors and the feedback, I think both desserts underwhelmed our expectations, but did deliver some interesting findings.

Emeril’s Pecan Pie

Emeril’s Chocolate Mousse Cake

Ok.  Both desserts presented very well, as you can see.  What was so interesting is that our friend who had never had pecan pie before, thought it “was pretty good.”  But, our self acclaimed Pecan Pie expert (we’ll call her CleanHandzDeez) thought it was a little “meh”.  Similarly, our avowed chocolate mousse lover thought the cake was just so-so.

However, neither of those people author this blog, do they?  You are reading for Tiramisu Guy’s opinion, right?  (Can I get an Amen?)

We’ll, Tiramisu Guy says that the pecan pie was unique.  The focus of this lie was the crust, not the filling.  I will say I prefer the emphasis on the filling though.  So all in all, I give this dessert 3.5 Lady Fingers.

Now, I did manage to sneak a bite or two of the chocolate mousse cake, and must say it was pretty good. I would have never ordered it myself, but stealing a few bites of a dessert that’s already in the table - I’m on that!

Final rating for the cake - 3 Lady Fingers.  To be fair, not much in the mousse category would score very high for Tiramisu Guy.

Can’t wait to see what we’ll enjoy on our next meal out!!

Until then…

  1. How disappointing that Emeril nor his tiramisu were at Delmonico that night. However as always I appreciate your excellent alternative dessert descriptions.

Thanks Tiramisu Guy for giving the world such a wonderful blog. Have you ever considered doing a podcast or YouTube channel?

To you question, yes, a podcast is in the timeline, and maybe YouTube would be a good idea too. As you know however, our timelines here are very fluid.

But keep your eyes on our posts as we announce new features very soon!
