Viva
Las Vegas!!!
That's right, Tiramisu Guy has ventured out to the
heat of the Nevada desert - or should I say dessert. (Ha! A little sweet tooth humor for
you!) All kidding aside, it was great to be out and about again. Las Vegas was hopping!! Thankfully, everyone did a good job of social distancing to ensure we all do our part to keep this pandemic at bay. I was out early each morning, and surprisingly saw many joggers on the roads... it was a great representation of the new, healthy vibe in Las Vegas.
But are you here to read about healthy options in Las Vegas? NO!!! You want tiramisu, don't you? Well, its a good thing you're not looking for healthy options in Vegas - because what I said above was a slight exaggeration of the current state of Las Vegas on the Health-O-Meter.
Let's get on with it... Our first tiramisu experience in Sin City was at a family style Italian restaurant, located at the Forum Shops in Caesars Palace, at a restaurant called Carmine's. Apparently, this is a New York City classic, so we were expecting great things.
First the food... The food was great. I think our favorite was definitely the Porterhouse Steak. This was huge!! It was pre-sliced for easy serving, and also came with delicious Italian sausage, and mountains of bell peppers and onions. Delicious! Tiramisu Guy unfortunately failed to snap a picture of this featured item, so you'll have to take my word for it...
The drinks were not so great, however. We'll, I guess I should say I don't if they are good or not. The drink service was a bit slow, so through our entire meal, we only received one round of drinks. I think this had more to do with the pandemic influenced labor shortage than intentional poor service. I like to think the workers have their customers best interest at heart, and those who were there working gave us 100%. Need a job, Carmine's is hiring.
Ok, what you've been waiting for... the dessert, and more importantly, the tiramisu!! Let's get right to it...

As you might expect at a family style restaurant, the tiramisu is family style too. It was like a big "pie" of tiramisu. We cut into it an dished it out to the whole table. Check out the 3D, internal view below.Ok... maybe that doesn't look so appetizing. The final assessment of this dessert was that it was good, but not great. The lady fingers seemed to be more like a pound cake, or almost a banana bread texture. So, it was a little less than what we were expecting.
So, in our new rating system of 1-5 Lady Fingers, 5 being best - this ranks as a solid 3 Lady Fingers.
I guess you could say this dessert did not live up to the old adage, Go Big or Go Home.
There was also a great Strawberry Shortcake... I didn't try it myself, but feedback was good. Check it out...
That's all for now... More from Las Vegas coming soon!
Until then...
